Mak’s Chee, the casual quick restaurant known for its authentic Hong Kong-style prawn wonton noodles made from a 100-year old recipe from the Mak family, opens its second outlet in Malaysia at Pavilion Elite Kuala Lumpur. Its first outlet was opened in 1 Utama last year.
In conjunction with its second outlet opening, Mak’s Chee is introducing a new, authentic limited time promotional dish, Swiss Chicken Leg. “Swiss Chicken Leg is a specialty of Hong Kong food culture. It is slow-cooked with sweet soy sauce and a variety of herbs and spices,” said Gary Crestejo, Managing Director of Mak’s Chee.
But Swiss Chicken Leg not related to Switzerland at all despite its namesake. Legend has it that this Hong Kong specialty dish got its name when a Westerner came across a delicious chicken dish in the infamous Tai Ping Koon Restaurant, and asked a Chinese waiter for the name of the dish. The waiter, who did not speak perfect English, introduced the dish as Sweet Chicken Leg but the Westerner misinterpreted Sweet as Swiss, hence it became the Swiss Chicken Leg.
This limited time dish will be available from 4th May to 31st July 2017 and you can choose from these three options:
- Original Swiss Chicken Leg, RM9.90
- Swiss Chicken Leg with Sunny-Side-Up Egg, RM15.90
- Swiss Chicken Leg Dry Noodle, RM13.90 (S) and RM15.90 (L)
