Last weekend I decided to treat myself to my first facial of 2017 and at the same time, prep my skin for the oncoming Chinese New Year season so I strolled to the only Caudalie Boutique Spa in Malaysia, located at Bangsar Shopping Centre to experience the antioxidant power of grapes for my skin. It’s the 4th Caudalie Boutique Spa in the Asian region with the one in Seoul, Korea and two in Hong Kong.
The therapist was very friendly and gave me a brief on what’s to come for the treatment I have chosen which is the Caudalie Vinosource Anti-Oxidant Hydrating Facial (60 minutes) where at one point during the facial she will be using real grapes to massage my face. This facial is a skin-renewing treatment to deeply moisturize the skin to restore moisture levels for a healthy, glowing appearance which is perfect for my dry and dull skin.
There are two therapy rooms in the boutique with walls decked in vineyard inspired wallpapers and wood accents that bring a hidden coziness that’s comforting. As quoted by Mathilde Thomas, founder of Caudalie, “I designed each of my Spas to be a truly exceptional escape from the everyday.”
The Treatment
The therapist starts the treatment with the Micellar Cleansing Water soaked cotton pad to remove the sunblock off my face before giving my skin a gentle cleanse with a mix of the Instant Foaming Cleanser and Gentle Cleansing Milk. A massage with fresh grapes followed by a recovery essential oil massage soothes dryness. The application of an intensely moisturizing mask
Once the cleansing is done, she spritzes some Grape Water on my skin before layering it with another spritz of the ever-so-popular, Beauty Elixir which released a delicious scent of grapes that perked my senses.
She then proceeds to exfoliate my skin with the Deep Cleansing Exfoliator and to get a deeper cleanse, a Clarisonic is used. It was my first time experiencing the Clarisonic and I liked that the brush bristles didn’t feel rough on my skin.
Once the scrub is done, a warm towel is then placed on my face to open up the pores before she proceeds with the extraction. The therapist will ask before starting the treatment, if you would like to go through the extraction process so you can opt out if you’re not a fan of it. I decided to go for it since I did not have a facial for more than 3 months.
After the extraction, she spritzes the Grape Water and Beauty Elixir once more. Here comes the fun part, she massaged my face with fresh grapes and she used about 3 grapes. Don’t worry, the grapes are disposed after the facial massage.
I added an eye treatment to go with my facial to help reduce my dark circles and to pamper my tired eyes. For the first part of the eye treatment, she massaged my eyes with the Premier Cru Eye Cream before using cold stones to improve the blood circulation of my eye area.
Next, she mixed the Overnight Detox Oil and Overnight Recovery Oil together before massaging it all over my face, neck and decolletage area.
After the massage, she brushes on the Purifying Mask on my nose and chin area and the Moisturizing Mask to the rest of my face. We can use the moisturizing mask on our eyes too.
As we wait for the mask to do its magic, she gives me a hand massage which was nice for us writers since we’re typing all day on our laptops and phones.
After the hand massage, the masks is removed and she proceed to the second part of the eye treatment, by massaging the eye cream around my eye area again before using the Talika eye massaging tool to get the product in.
With the eye treatment done, she applied the rest of the skincare on my face and then the facial is complete.
My Verdict
It was a grape facial which I thoroughly enjoyed. It’s a good way to explore Caudalie’s products too since you can purchase the products used during your facial from the boutique itself. The only downside was that the room was not soundproof so I could clearly hear the noises of people talking and walking in the mall which was a little distracting.
The Caudalie Vinosource Anti-Oxidant Hydrating Facial (60 minutes) is priced at RM279 and is available at Caudalie Boutique Spa located in Bangsar Shopping Centre only. Contact +603 2095 0001 or email caudalie-bsc@eave.com.my to make your reservations.
